April 29th –May 5th, 2019 sees us celebrate International Coaching Week, a week-long festival promoting the value of working with a professional coach. Our Career Coaches support 1000s of individuals with their career transition. Here’s some feedback from one of our many Clients demonstrating the benefits of working with one of Renovo’s Career Coaches. Here is some feedback for one of our Coaches, Sarah Rycraft:
“After working for my last employer for 27 years, the realisation that I’d been made redundant and needed to start to look for work was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to come to terms with. I really didn’t know where to start. Sarah not only helped me to understand that what I was feeling was only to be expected, but it also helped me come to terms with it and take those first tentative steps forward.
Bearing in mind I had been out of the job marked for a very, very long time, I didn’t know what my skills were, with Sarah’s help, I found I had far more transferable skills than I’d ever imagined, that I enjoyed working in a operational environment and I also loved having and developing people. Sarah helped me recognise my skills, which in turn allowed me to define them and start to ‘sell’ them.
From having no job hunting tools or skills whatsoever, we started with the foundations such as creating a CV, supporting statements and cover letters and built up to using and managing job boards, developing my LinkedIn profile and networking, looking at the hidden job market and interviews. She also helped me get organised – for someone who had been in a reasonably senior position and considered themselves organised, all of the skills that I had used day to day in my job had escaped me. It’s unbelievable what the shock and stress of being made redundant can do to someone. Sarah helped me recognise my skills and start to use them again.
Over the weeks, Sarah was my counsellor, coach, teacher, voice of reason and just a sounding board when I needed to get rid of my frustrations. She boosted my confidence, helped to motivate me and was just on the end of the phone/email when I needed her. She picked me up time and time again for which I am sincerely grateful.
I’ve just been offered employment as a Regional Centre Manager. In securing my post, I used a combination of everything that Sarah taught me. Networking has never come easy to me but I contacted an acquaintance who had previously told me to apply to the company her husband worked for. I managed to get an email address of the HR recruiter, sent in a speculative email and my CV and the rest is history. I was invited for first stage interview which was a presentation, questions and a tour of the company by the person who’d previously been in the role. I was contacted the same day to be invited to second stage which was dinner with the team and at dinner was offered the post. I never imagined I would get a post at the same level as I was in my previous company, let alone a promotion but I must say I would not have been able to achieve this success without Renovo and more importantly Sarah’s patience, compassion and support.
The support she’s given me and the dedication shown is commendable. Renovo are very lucky to have her. When the thought and process of finding work overwhelmed me and I could have quite easily given up, but she kept me going. She’s helped me to achieve my potential, not just getting any job but getting a better job than the one I was made redundant from. I’m very lucky to have had her in my corner and would like to sincerely thank her for having faith in me. I couldn’t have done it without her”.
