The social media world keeps evolving and over the last few months there have been several innovations and updates on LinkedIn. The platform has launched a number of new features and tools to support you with upskilling, job searching and networking. To ensure you stay up to date and maximise LinkedIn and its benefits, this article has collated some of the latest LinkedIn updates to look out for moving into 2022.
LinkedIn has announced video introductions via LinkedIn Recruiter, allowing Recruiters to invite candidates to record an introduction after applying for a job on LinkedIn. Your video intro gives the job poster a unique opportunity to learn more about you and why you’re the best candidate for the job, as well as allowing you to showcase your communication and presentation skills. If you’re selected to provide a video intro, you’ll have the opportunity to answer up to two questions either by recording a video response (up to two minutes per question) or a written response.
LinkedIn has introduced a new preparation feature that enables you to be more confident in upcoming job interviews. It provides expert tips on how to answer the most common interview questions, allowing you to practice your answers either by recording a video or writing a response. LinkedIn then provides you with an AI summary based on your pace, words you used per minute and your use of filler words, followed by tips to improve your response. You can even receive feedback on the questions you’ve practiced by choosing a 1st-degree connection. This feature is accessible via the Jobs page immediately after you apply for a job, or from the Jobs Tracker dashboard when you view jobs you’ve applied for. Its available to both free and Premium members.
You can now launch Video Meetings and share video meeting links on LinkedIn, directly through the LinkedIn Messages tab. When using LinkedIn Video Meetings as a video meeting provider, you can host only an individual meeting with one other member currently - the ability to host group meetings will be added later. You can use video meetings to catch up and share career advice over coffee, or chat live about potential job opportunities.
