Almost every part of our lives has been transformed by the digital world. Whether it’s how we shop, socialise or stay in touch with family, doing things remotely has become second nature. The same is true in our careers, where technology has changed how, where and when we work.

The new normal

Flexible and remote working are now firmly embedded in how most businesses operate in 2025. What started as a short-term response to the pandemic has become a long-term shift, with nearly half of the UK workforce currently engaging in some form of remote or hybrid working. Organisations are continuing to invest in remote-first approaches, and a large number of employees now expect flexibility as standard practice.

Remote working has opened the door to opportunities for people who may have previously been excluded from certain roles. Parents returning to work, people with mobility or mental health challenges, and individuals living outside traditional talent hubs are all able to access jobs that may have been out of reach just a few years ago. Technology has made it easier to connect the right people with the right roles, regardless of location or circumstance.

This change has also had a significant impact on how people access support when they go through a career transition. As services such as outplacement have moved online, support has become more accessible, more flexible and more responsive to individual needs.

A modern approach to outplacement

With over 15 years of experience of truly effective and industry leading outplacement support, Renovo has helped thousands of people take the next step in their careers. Our services cover everything that is needed by someone tackling the challenges of the modern job market, with unlimited and personalised one-to-one coaching, as well as cutting edge online technology, at the heart of everything we do.

As one of the first providers in the industry to champion the value of distance-based support, remote coaching has always played a central role in our outplacement programmes. We know how valuable it is for people to speak with a high-quality career coach at a time that works for them.

Remote coaching has given people greater flexibility and control over how they access support, helping them build confidence and make progress quickly. It has also allowed Renovo to easily implement our ‘one coach approach’ strategy, which provides participants with greater continuity and helps them build stronger relationships with their coaches. This approach benefits both participants and coaches, as remote working offers the flexibility needed for them to collaborate more effectively and deliver high-quality support to employees across different locations.

As pioneers of a distance-based outplacement model, we instinctively know how great careers technology can complement and enhance the quality of support. Yet while embracing the latest in careers technology and AI, we don’t believe in technology for technology’s sake and maintain a razor-sharp focus on resources that can add genuine value to the employee’s transition.

Renovo’s Workfriend platform brings together the combined expertise of our team into a highly practical and targeted suite of web resources and via our industry first Workfriend App, meaning support is always available when it’s needed most.

Remote delivery has not taken away the personal side of outplacement. If anything, it’s made it easier to provide support that is timely, relevant and more aligned with how people live and work today. For our clients, it allows tailored one-to-one support to reach more people, more effectively.
